Live Music Sessions
Music has made communities all through time, and each culture makes music which is unique to them. Caithness has amazing musicians and we’d like these jam sessions to be inspiring to younger and less experienced musicians, welcoming to established noise-makers and a place where styles can work together.
We would like people to come with tunes, but mainly with the desire to create a cool evening where people can gain confidence in their music or singing.

Play for Palestine – live music session
Sat 15th November 2025
6-9pm, Ross Institute Halkirk
This is going to be a bit different from our usual set up. We invite all musicians to come along with their instrument – classical, contemporary, cutlery and voice. We will be asking a couple of bands and existing groups to come along. We have a sign-up sheet link below, but you can just come along and join in. The aim is to raise funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians. There’ll be buckets around the space for you to chuck your pennies and pounds into after particularly good tunes so bring change!
We encourage people to play along where they can. As ever, we want this session to encourage musicians who haven’t played in groups before, and to meet the groups they could join. There’ll be tea, coffee and snacks and feel free to bring you own
Get in touch with any questions, and we hope to see you there.
Children welcome
Wheelchair access
No such thing as arriving ‘late’ – whenever you get there is a great time to arrive!
