Han's Tree of Life
Han and Katrina were matched to produce a piece of artwork which explored a health condition. Over the past 11 weeks, a composition has been made which will be debuted at the Carnival of Plants
Artist: Katrina Gordon
Collaborator: Han Mainland
Han’s Tree of Life is a composition for handbells, flute and a synthesised plant.
Katrina Gordon worked with Han to compose a piece which expresses the experience of living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder which affects around 20,000 in Scotland alone.
The handbells are harmonious and mellow, the flute high and airy, and the plant completely unpredictable. The synthesiser which converts changes in the plants soil and leaves is kindly on loan from Thurso Community Greenhouses. Read a little more about plant-music.
